Dr Alex (née Pandolfino) was the first ever individual to be identified by the Wellcome Trust as having the type of intelligence, determination and commitment that could be deliberately nurtured to yield doctors capable of fundamentally interrogating the ‘status quo’ within medicine – and strategically change its landscape. She was thereby funded to undertake an intercalated Medical and PhD Research Training Programme at Imperial College London, the first of its kind. As part of the requirement, Dr Alex undertook her PhD in multiple disciplines – molecular genetics, immunology, pathology and virology. She has benefited from research grants awarded by The Wellcome Trust, The British Heart Foundation, The Arthritis & Rheumatism Council, The Nuffield Foundation, The Wellcome Foundation, and GSK, among others.

Dr Alex has also undertaken two MBA degree programmes – the first, a uniquely-quadruple-accredited (including by EQUIS) ‘Entrepreneurial Strategy & Innovation MBA’ and the second, a unique ‘Life Sciences & Strategy’ MBA. She has also achieved the prestigious ‘Chartered Manager’ and ‘Fellowship’ Status at the Chartered Manager Institute, based on extended project work in Medical Innovation, as Medical Director for The Concorde Initiative – an accolade attained by high-performing professionals, considered to be ‘at the top of their game’, with exceptional management and leadership skills, who deliver discernible value and measurable impact.

British Innovator in Science and Medicine

Dr Alex has been featured in every major national newspaper and is the only doctor highlighted in the Sunday Times ‘The Future’, Special Edition Magazine. She has been repeatedly cited as a Health Expert in the UK press, in Professional Practitioner Journals, and for quality online health resources.

Dr Alex has achieved Clinical Research Awards since 1990, and has peer-reviewed publications spanning molecular and onco-genetics, virology, pathology, immunology, rheumatology and autoimmunity. She was the only UK Editor and Contributor to ‘The Definitive Guide To Cancer’, and the only UK Editorial Advisor (Biomedical & Healthcare) for ‘Cancer InCytes’ e-Magazine. Dr Alex was awarded the UK’s ‘Practitioner Of The Year’ (Today’s Therapist), and cited as a ‘Top 50 Health Gurus’ (The London Paper). She is currently ‘Medical Practitioner of the Year’ (Holistic), 2022/2023, for both the South of England and Northern Ireland and has been awarded  “Recognised leader in translational medicine – UK’ in the Northern Irish Enterprise Awards 2023-24. Notably, Dr Alex was the only General Medical Doctor invited to Buckingham Palace by H.M. The Queen to attend a one-off event for ‘British Innovators in Science and Medicine’, along with Stephen Hawking.
