Focus Fundraiser: Escape Room Series
Click on the puzzle to explore the first escape room.
We know that escape could become a realistic possibility if more of the biological jigsaw pieces could be better understood and a better governance of master regulators achieved.
Who could have imagined a day when we could look at the human body through a lens so powerful that entire networks of invisible master regulators and their signalling pathways were revealed? Molecular science is, right now, capable of amassing stunning insights into how our bodies work and why they sometimes don’t.
Despite this, many people remain trapped in diseases for which there are very few, or no viable treatment options. Many children have cancers too rare and under-researched for there to be reasonable hope of anyone even looking for a way out.
There is no better place to start than getting to know PPARy. Help us to raise £50,000 to unlock a protein that is invisible to the naked eye and yet, a pivotal master regulator, not just in childhood cancers, but also in multiple major diseases.
Click on PPARy in the image above to explore the ESCAPE ROOM. Find 5 info cards and click on the butterfly to help unlock the door.
Once our target £50,000 has been reached, the door will open to the second chamber for our next challenge.
CCRT RSII Initiative
As well as raising funds for our focus fundraiser series, the Childhood Cancer Research Trust continues to raise money for the CCRT RSII Initiative where new knowledge about the scope of health in the context of cancer is continually being developed .

100% of donations received are distributed by the Childhood Cancer Research Trust to childhood cancer research at this time.
We do not need millions to change the face of childhood cancer treatments forever. We simply need enough to trigger the tipping point at which scientific knowledge translates into treatment.
making a gift in your will
Our Pioneer Patron legacy donors stand to make a substantial difference to the Childhood Cancer Research Trust without effecting lifetime financial needs.
Leaving bequests totalling 10% of your net estate to one or several charities changes your inheritance tax rate from 40% to 36%. This means that on an estate of £1,000,000 charities could benefit from a total of £50,000 while beneficiaries would only forgo the sum of £12,000. In this scenario, the gift is worth 4 times what is deducted from the estate.
| No charitable bequests | 10% bequest to charity |
Gross estate | 1,000,000 | 1,000,000 |
Less nil rate band | 325,000 | 325,000 |
Less residence nil rate band | 175,000 | 175,000 |
Net estate | 500,000 | 500,000 |
10% Charitable donation | 0 | 50,000 |
Taxable estate | 500,000 | 450,000 |
Less IHT at 40% & 36% | 200,000 | 162,000 |
Remaining estate | 800,000 | 788,000 |
For those who have not been in a financial position to give now, we are extremely grateful for the legacy bequests that take advantage of this tax efficiency.
If you have been left a gift in someone else’s will, you can also forward a gift in their will through a deed of variation.

The butterfly effect is the idea that seemingly small events may ultimately result in something with much larger consequences.
